Los Campeones goes on. Here’s some random storyboard roughs
Mephisto gives Santo the back of his hand
El Hijo del Santo & Mistico versus Mephisto and Averno was everything Lucha Libre should be, and more. Wes Massey has taken some of the best Lucha pics I’ve seen in ages here.
Santo is amazing. Mistico hurt his knee, so Santo worked the whole second fall solo. The clip below shows he’s still got it
Then Mistico came back to hit his awesome finisher and win the match. Truly amazing stuff…
The awesome Ricardo Garcia Fuentes did the artwork for the DC ¡Mucha Lucha! comic series a few years back. See his great artwork here!
Eddie: I’m doing things a little different than I usually do, by utlilizing Flash to create the storyboards from my initial sketchy thumbnails. The advantage is that I get to make the storyboards more like mini-layouts, and also get to use existing character models. It’s a more time consuming process, but I figure it will make for a better animatic, and really make things easier for animators when it comes time for that stage of the production. Having the Wacom Cintiq has really helped with this; I’d hate to think how frustrated I’d be right now scratching around on my old tablet!

Neither of us have had time to “read” it yet but so far we think it’s an awesome book. There are so many inspirational images… such a wealth of cool stuff. Congratulations and thanks to Amid for doing this! Everybody, go order a copy now!
The only problem is that this book makes you wish that all these groovy-looking films were available on DVD. We are looking forward to www.cartoonbrewfilms.com !!!
A 52-minute continuous mix is available for download here! (50mb – right click ‘save target as’. Dial-up people – contact us and Eddie can arrange to put it on CD for you)
Sunday night: It’s either THIS (thanks, Keith) or The Cramps @ the Sunset Junction Street Fair? Bad timing
Continuing the Lucha Libre theme, here’s a sketch from the Los Campeones storyboard

Might I add that this was also Fwak Animation‘s first ever voice recording session in L.A. (operating as Fwak! Animation Inc. USA) It was a blast, and many thanks to everyone who contributed their vocal talents!
Voice Director: Eddie Mort
Without giving too much away at this point in time, here are some sneak peek layout drawings from “Here’s Jimmy: Jimmy Gets Cool” – which have yet to be color-styled and animated when time permits.

*UPDATE* Edd mentioned that he has also appeared in “77 Sunset Strip” comic books. Here are some images found on the web, via this flickr set.
Things have been progressing well, with the script completed, a big chunk of characters designed, background design progressing, and storyboards well underway. More soon…
Thanks, Jesse Justice! This is awesome!
I always think it’s kinda corny when people blog about and share photos of their pets. So I’ll only do this once. Meet Jazzy, the 12 year old Boston terrier that I am fostering this week, on behalf of BostonBuddies.org (Boston terrier rescue group) She may be old and fat but she is really supersweet and I did the really corny thing of setting her up with a Myspace page. I hope I won’t get too attached and that she will be adopted into a nice new home. - Lili
