Los Campeones de La Lucha Libre premieres in Mexico City today! This display (in shopping centres around Mexico) invites you to get in the ring and have your picture taken with the characters!
Superluchas meanwhile has these fun paper planes you can cut, fold, and throw at the ring next time you are at a match!
Thank you, YouTube!
Look out for the Dragon Rojo Jr. cardboard sign, sticking out of the audience. (shown very briefly at 0:25 top clip, then at 2:52… second clip) That’s where we were sitting!
And here is a clip from the Los Campeones Movie Premiere on Sunday morning.
Andres Palacios is the Spanish voice of Dragon Rojo Jr.
On Sunday October 12th, our movie “Los Campeones De La Lucha Libre” made its official premiere at the Antara Cinemex in Mexico City (which is sort of like the Hollywood-Highland theater complex in L.A.) and we were there to enjoy this spectacular event with an audience of 2000 people, including 25 major masked wrestling stars, celebrity actors Iliana Fox (voice of Sorpresa) and Andres Palacios (voice of Dragon Rojo Jr) and major television and newspaper press.
How often does one get to hang out with luchadores at Starbucks?
Also present at the premiere was Dragon Rojo Jr, a rising star in the Arena Mexico, and real-life manifestation of the main character in our movie. It was absolutely thrilling to see him wrestle at Arena Mexico on Friday night and to meet him in person.
On the red carpet: Enrique Altamirano, Exec. Producer
The theatrical version of Los Campeones is dubbed into the Spanish language (sounds GREAT to us!) and is distributed by Azteca Cine. To date, 400 prints have been released to theaters around Mexico.
The movie will open in theaters to the public on October 17th 2008. If you are in Mexico, go see it!
SOME PRESS LINKS:
This tiny wall bust of Dragon Rojo was bought outside Arena Mexico!
(Unfortunately there was only ONE of these)
Dragon Rojo mask!
We picked up a few souvenir hoods outside the Arena but this one here
is a gift from the man himself – a mask that he has actually wrestled in.
Mini El Dragon Rojo mask next to Blue Demon and El Santo…
And last but not least, here is an awesome ring I picked up at the El Santo store…
