  • Happy New Year!

We all know about YouTube (how could we live without YouTube?) Unfortunately there are file size and duration limits for YouTube uploads and I am not technically savvy nor patient enough to split things up.

Hello www.vimeo.com and our FWAK! ANIMATION Channel on Vimeo. OK, it’s still looking a little sparse and unexciting. So far there are only three video clips: The first episode of Cosmic Baby, our Super Mahi Tiki “Lava Palaver” short and the pitch and animatic for our Here’s Jimmy pilot (find out more about these projects on our website). We promise you that there will be more in the new year! We plan to sort through some old VHS tapes, digitize our earlier animated productions and share these on the internet.

In February 2009, Eddie and I will be returning to Sydney for two weeks to pack up our animation studio belongings… As some of you know, we have been leasing this studio space since 2000. It’s quite sad to have to let it go (great location!) but the reality is that we are now settled in L.A. Eventually, we hope to set up a new studio base here in L.A.

If you are located in Sydney, Australia, you may be interested in our Studio Furniture Sale. We have tables, chairs, a photocopy machine, filing cabinets, animation discs, couches, fridges, lamps, a bar etc. Everything’s gotta go and it’s all going for cheap! Sadly we can’t ship a lot of this stuff to the USA and would prefer that they go to a loving home or office than to St Vincent De Paul’s. Please get in touch if you would like to see a list of sale items. (lili dot chin at g mail dot com) Local pick-up only by Feb 17th. 2009.

To our Los Angeles friends, here’s a date to save. On February 5th, 2009 (El Santo’s birthday!) our movie Los Campeones De La Lucha Libre will be screening for one night only at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. If you missed our Private screening at the Vista Theater in July, here’s your chance to see it on the big screen! We will post more details closer to the date. In the meantime, join our Los Campeones Group on Facebook. (LINK <– you need to be registered on Facebook to access this page)

HAPPY NEW YEAR, Fwak! blog readers! May the year 2009 bring us all more good times, more success and more moolah.

  • Toon Boom ‘ANIMATE’: So far…

    …so good

    final-43

(All elements were drawn in Animate.  Background uses Blur and Glow effects)

The drawing tools are good and responsive, the filters actually WORK when you export them (take note Flash), and they have done a smart thing by incorporating all the effects in the timeline.  Of course there are prices to pay for superior animation software, and one of these is the new experience of having to render your work in order to preview it.  But it is something we will get used to.

Haven’t had to tackle the camera yet.  That’s next…

  • Reasons to watch Cartoon Network…

Well here’s one…MUCHA LUCHA is back on!  2PM weekdays!

    Flea-Churro04

    Check the schedule HERE

Our recommendation is to tune in this Wednesday, December 10th for the stupendous 2-parter, ‘The Match Before Xmas’ when Santo Claus will decide who’s been rudo and who’s been tecnico!

*UPDATE:  Missed it this time?  Well do not fret – ‘The Match Before Xmas’ screens again Dec 19th.  Same Lucha time, etc etc etc…

Okay kids, this Xmas we want you all to write to Cartoon Network and demand they make a  fourth series of Mucha Lucha!  Remember – real Lucha is always better than Thumb Wrestling.

Oh we’re ready; we’re damn ready

  • Update! Rocquita!

    Rocquita-Layout_resized

Rocquita is part of Cartoon Network Asia/Pacific’s ‘SNAPTOONS’ initiative.  The storyboard has been completed for a while now, and we are finally moving into voice casting…lots and lots of audition files to review this week!

We’re also excited to be using Toonboom’s new ANIMATE software to bring this to life (we are especially excited about using a ’3D camera in 2D space’), once we move past animatic – for which we are utilizing Storyboard Pro.

    Stay tuned
