  • Mike Burnett’s toys are gorgeous. But will probably leave you broke.

I still haven’t seen Peter Jackson’s King Kong… and honestly I am slightly worried. After watching the original movie on DVD tonight, I thought to myself: If the death of a stop-motion Kong animated on eighths can still keep me on the edge of my seat and make me cry, imagine how I would be, enduring a three-hour full-blown hyperrealistic movie. I’d be a freakin’ basketcase!  – Lili

    Happy CHA-CHA-Christmas!

Voila – A mix of Cha Cha Cha tunes on the Fwak! Jukebox. Enjoy!

  • Lucha Comics!

    *updated

I have been aware of the
TEQUILA vinyl figure for some time now, but I didn’t realize until very recently, that the individuals behind Muttpop are also extraordinarily talented comic-book creators and animators. Jerry Frissen writes for Metal Hurlant, and Gobi co-directed on Catfish Studio’s impressive Catfish Hotel
animated short.  The preview pages of their The Luchadores Five comic-book project are stunning. Check out some of the artwork HERE. (en francais)

    • Do you hate Penny Plutonium because her crush on Rikochet interferes with his relationship with Buena Girl?
    • If Rikochet and Buena Girl have kids, how many?
    • Do you think that A. There should be a 4th season of Mucha Lucha and B. Should it contain more romance?

These questions and more at the Rikochet-Loves-Buena-Girl Yahoo Group Polls. *Note to fans: Please don’t take my votes too seriously. I had to vote something so I could see all your scores

From this article on Mexican Masked Wrestlers:

Thanks to the old movies that have become cult classics, and the current popularity of the Cartoon Network’s “Mucha Lucha” program, lucha libre has crossed the border to make fans here as well. Whether live or on screen, many fans on both sides of the border thrill to the action as luchadores re-enact the age-old battle of good versus evil.

And a big congratulations to the Annie Awards nominees.. Here were our top five selections for the Best TV Production category. Not too surprising, really. And ASIFA members will then vote for the best of the best…

  • More Muerte Musica!

    Design by Lili

I have a new track for download here!  It’s a play on an old dancehall tune ‘Under Mi Sleng Teng’ which pioneered the use of the Sleng Teng Rhythm in Jamaican music.  The original rhythm  – which was found on a Casio Keyboard and slowed down – revolutionized dance music in Jamaica…

  • ….Musica….

My extracurricular technical achievements between 11pm and 3.30am last night…

P.S. This was created with wimpyplayer. Oh and you can click on the tiny pics in the musicplayer for artiste/album info. Enjoy!!! – Lilita

Any regular visitors here (and to our grabbag) will know that the things which inspire us reach way beyond the animated world, and music plays a big part in influencing what we do.  After all – animation gotta swing, and have riddim!  We’ll be updating the Jukebox regularly, and hopefully introduce some artists/tunes that will prompt listeners to seek out the originals.  - Eddie
