Los Campeones Premieres in Mexico!
On Sunday October 12th, our movie “Los Campeones De La Lucha Libre” made its official premiere at the Antara Cinemex in Mexico City (which is sort of like the Hollywood-Highland theater complex in L.A.) and we were there to enjoy this spectacular event with an audience of 2000 people, including 25 major masked wrestling stars, celebrity actors Iliana Fox (voice of Sorpresa) and Andres Palacios (voice of Dragon Rojo Jr) and major television and newspaper press.
How often does one get to hang out with luchadores at Starbucks?
Also present at the premiere was Dragon Rojo Jr, a rising star in the Arena Mexico, and real-life manifestation of the main character in our movie. It was absolutely thrilling to see him wrestle at Arena Mexico on Friday night and to meet him in person.
On the red carpet: Enrique Altamirano, Exec. Producer
The theatrical version of Los Campeones is dubbed into the Spanish language (sounds GREAT to us!) and is distributed by Azteca Cine. To date, 400 prints have been released to theaters around Mexico.
The movie will open in theaters to the public on October 17th 2008. If you are in Mexico, go see it!

God, I’d love to go into my sister-city and see if the movie is playing, but unfortunately, I’m afraid it’s not safe to do so…
…any word on a release (even video) in the United States?
Mexico City – like other big cities – has its dangers, but after travelling there and experiencing all the city has to offer twice now, it really gets a raw deal. The premiere was attended by people from all walks of life, kids, families…it was a very joyous experience.
A DVD release is in the works. We will keep everyone updated about its release

@fwak - Very true…I’m right across from Nuevo Laredo and sadly I wish I *could* say it’s safe, but I don’t feel it is like it used to be when I was much much younger.
