I know this blog hasn’t been updated as regularly as it used to. This is because (1) we are too busy (2) I am not surfing blogs as often as I used to, and (3) am spending more of my “net time” downloading music, or uploading music. Check out the new Jukebox playlist! – No. 5 is compiled by Eddie.
Between us, we also have a stack of DVDs and books/comics piling up since Christmas. Some stuff that I am looking forward to watching/reading:
Fantastic Four/Iron Man “Big In Japan” Issues #1-4
Ultra colorful designy mayhem! Another xmas present from Eddie.Mind Game
…mentioned on Cartoon Brew and The Gline. Very curious.
Johnny Quest – Complete 1st Season
Back when the animation drawings were cleaned-up in a cool comic-book style…

Alas, there are distinct “P.C.” edits in the Johnny Quest DVDs. A glaring one is the omission of the classic Race Bannon line “Run you heathen monkeys!” while chasing off some superstitious headhunters. Makes me regret getting rid of my old VHS copies…
Man, and I thought that ep was particularly brutal as it appears on the DVD. Having that line in there would have completely tipped it over the edge.
From an art/style POV, the first episode on the DVD - ‘Mystery Of The Lizard Men – is my favorite. They put so much into the posing/rendering/backgrounds, and it was obviously too high a standard to maintain. By ‘Calcutta Adventure’ the end of Disc 1, the animation has become decidedly wobbly.
