I was under the belief that the rivalry between ‘El Hijo del Santo and Blue Demon Jr’  was just a work…ie, not real… but according to Chris A. who is Blue Demon’s good friend, these two Mexican wrestling superstars are seriously fighting and have been for a while. It seems that Blue Demon Jr’s involvement with Mucha Lucha as an animated character has pissed El Santo off. And now it has been reported that Santo is keen to be in an animated series of his own!

Is this for real? The only article I could find is in Spanish – El Santo vs Blue Demon, Otra Vez. (requires registration to Economista.com.mx; or you could use my USERNAME – lilichin  PASSWORD – muchalucha).

Based on my limited translation skills (and with help from Tony) – El Hijo del Santo wants to star in 3-minute animated episodes in the same format as Cartoon Network’s Clone Wars. The article also says that this Santo animated series will go to air at the end of the year!

Who is producing this? Is it really happening? (What have we started?!!) Or is this pure hype that is part of the off-ring rivalry between the two lucha legends?

P.S. In the article, Blue Demon says that he was very nervous during the ML recording, but  that it was a gratifying experience.

P.P.S.  Fans of ML have asked us why El Santo doesn’t guest-star in ML. In actual fact, we were planning to contact El Santo, but Blue Demon’s people contacted us first. Should there be a fourth season of ML, we would love to have Santo on the show. But… will Blue Demon Jr still be our friend?

Other stuff - Super busy these next few days. I am organizing ML images for WB’s new style guide; and I have a big long list of design-revisions to do for our Jive Turkey Experience bible. So much to do…

Check out these Fosters’ promotional toys! (Our friend in NYC works for a cable TV magazine & gets sent all kinds of cool stuff.)

The gorgeous figurines come in a gorgeous box. Cartoon Network really knows how to market their stuff! While in NYC we also saw lots of huge billboards advertising this new series.

Currently listening to: ‘The Twistin Freilachs of Lou Klayman’ ( webjay stream)
