  • Trying to write about everything everyday but sometimes that’s just not possible.

    Second last week in L.A.

Below – Thai Elvis, taken at Palms Thai Restaurant (Sunset Blvd, Hollywood). Awesome Elvis singing impersonation! We were hoping for some hip-swingin’ gyratin’ rock-a-hula action but it was Mother’s Day (Sunday) hence the slow schmultzy ballads. Or maybe he doesn’t dance … ?

Had dinner last night with Christopher, Michael, Mike and Ben at The Smokehouse in Burbank. Christopher shared his prolific Las Vegas experiences and tips. I hate to admit it – I am hooked already. And I haven’t even started gambling (and never wanted to until now). So here’s hoping for a prosperous birthday weekend in Vegas …

Eddie’s advice to me: “You gotta know when to hold, know when to fold. Know when to walk away. Know when to run.”

    Shinrock-A-Go-Go

This is the Video Beat’s description of “Shinrock-A-Go-Go”:

Dec-3-65.  U.S. TV show.  Fantastic ’60s rock n roll episode featuring the Beau Brummelstones (Beau Brummels) performing “Laugh Laugh” on the teenage music TV show, Shinrock! (parody of Shindig!)  Fred drops a bowling ball on his foot and jumps around in pain—and in the process invents a new teen dance sensation, The Frantic!  Shinrock! host, Jimmy O’ Neilstone asks Fred to introduce the new dance at his nightclub, the Bedrock A-Go-Go!  The Frantic sweeps the world! Fred even teaches the dance to LBJ!  Also appearing on Shinrock! are Oscar and the Orangutans and the Wipe Outs.  Must see rock n roll TV!

    The Beau Brummelstones

We were contemplating ordering this one (and we also have our eye on Amor A Ritmo De Go-Go; Bop Girl Goes Calypso and Hot Rod Rumble…) then suddenly remembered that if we ask nicely, we could get a copy of any cartoon in the WB/Hanna-Barbera library here

OK. So this is a fun parody of Shindig but it still doesn’t surpass the “Bedrock Twitch” episode – an alltime favorite! (lyrics)

BTW, we are both obsessed with DANCING in 60′s cartoons and TV shows.

    And we’re not even gamers…

Tomorrow- we’ve been invited to the E3 Expo at the LA Convention Centre, and a free Matrix Reloaded screening in the afternoon. There goes another day of work!
