Toon Boom ‘ANIMATE’: So far…
…so good
(All elements were drawn in Animate. Background uses Blur and Glow effects)
The drawing tools are good and responsive, the filters actually WORK when you export them (take note Flash), and they have done a smart thing by incorporating all the effects in the timeline. Of course there are prices to pay for superior animation software, and one of these is the new experience of having to render your work in order to preview it. But it is something we will get used to.
Haven’t had to tackle the camera yet. That’s next…

Thanks for the review, I’ve been thinking about switching to Toonboom. And the new Animate software sounds pretty good from what other people have been saying.

@Chocolate Log - As I mentioned, I am still to use the Camera, but so far it seems they have got things right. The work layout is similar to Flash and the drawing tools are way better. Once you get your head around the fact that you are dealing with DRAWINGS and not KEYFRAMES, it’s a breeze
