  • Back in L.A.!
    - Lili

It is great to be back home after two glorious weeks of touristy pleasure in Paris and Barcelona. I saw lots of stuff: the Louvre, Notre Dame, Tour Eiffel, Paris Catacombs, mindblowing Gaudi buildings, etc; ate lots of European food, drank lots of red wine, took afternoon siestas, bought some cool crap, talked a bunch of broken Français and Español, and walked until my legs could take no more.

Still jetlagged, but batteries recharged, I am more than ready to dive back into Los Campeones! Also thrilled to join Eddie and other artists/animators on the Toonboom Solo training sessions at IDT. So far, this vector animation software appears to be a pretty awesome alternative to Flash.

Anyway, some cute finds from abroad:

A groovy 1950′s Italian TOUCAN lamp from
Europe’s largest flea markets in Clignancourt, Paris.

Two pens from the Pylones store (Paris)
which has lots of groovy colorful stationery,
    jewelry and kitchenware.

Fan and placemat by Alexis Rom for the Cha Cha Original Store (Barcelona). It’s a pity that they don’t have a website. Alexis Rom’s designs can also be found on drink coasters, tshirts, bags and other stuff.

Part of a latex “zipper” figure series also produced by Barcelona’s
    Cha Cha Original Store.

And last but not least, I had to buy this Catalunyian gem: a Caganer figurine! (They’re all the rage at Christmas)

  • Welcome back! Barci is fabulous, isn’t it? Love the Caganer. I keep forgetting to buy one when I’m there. The bakeries also have special Christmas cakes that look like piles of dukey with little sugar flies on them…Yum.

  • You know, I could only find caganers at ONE souvenir store on the Ramblas. I guess it’s not that time of year yet… Xmas poo cakes? Now I gotta google a picture! :)

  • Welcome Back Lili. Hope you were able to score a Kozik Tequila while you were away.I too dig that Caganer. Thumbs up.

  • Welcome back indeed!  I feel like I’ve been missing my right hand for 2 weeks.  No wonder my drawings look like they’ve been done with my left!
I still get people asking me why we are so obsessed with Lucha.  From now one, I’m just going to direct them to that clip

  • Hey! Great that you are back safe and sound. Love the youtube clip, need some stills for monster reference ;D

  • I like the illustration of the Fan and placemat! I wish I can go to Europe someday.  : )
