Koenig pointed out that the Cartoon Network carries a popular program called “Mucha Lucha.”

“Every kid in America under the age of 12 is watching Mexican wrestling, and their parents don’t even know about it,” he said, adding that many adults have little or no knowledge of lucha libre, which is catching on among children in the United States and Canada.

My extracurricular technical achievements between 11pm and 3.30am last night…

P.S. This was created with wimpyplayer. Oh and you can click on the tiny pics in the musicplayer for artiste/album info. Enjoy!!! – Lilita

Any regular visitors here (and to our grabbag) will know that the things which inspire us reach way beyond the animated world, and music plays a big part in influencing what we do.  After all – animation gotta swing, and have riddim!  We’ll be updating the Jukebox regularly, and hopefully introduce some artists/tunes that will prompt listeners to seek out the originals.  - Eddie

  • And the Annie goes to…

It was our first visit to the ASIFA headquarters in Burbank and we were both very honored to be invited by ASIFA’s Larry Loc (along with three other judges) to review over sixty animated submissions for the Annie Awards’ “Best Animated Television Production” category.  The five nominees will be officially announced on Dec 5th. In the meantime, our lips are sealed…

…only a small part of The ASIFA Animation Archive

In the back part of the building is a tantalizing collection of boxes containing cels, animation drawings, backgrounds, layouts, film reels, and the entire contents of several studios from years gone by.  One day it will be an awesome display.
  • Los Bros Hernandez

    [larger]

    Lili:
I just got back from the Pasadena City College Art Gallery for the Love & Rockets: Comic Art of Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez opening. I have always been in love with the works of  Los Bros Hernandez so it was a treat to have my photo taken with Jaime and a DVD/comic set signed by Gilbert. The show goes through to Dec 3rd.

    OK now, back to work…

    GOAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!!
Eddie: This is totally lost on all our American friends, which makes it more important for us to shout about it here! Truly momentous, and something I thought I’d never see again…

  • Eddie Guerrero (1967-2005)

    RIP

Sad news today with the sudden death of Eddie Guerrero at age 38.  The Lucha Libre and Pro Wrestling communities are in a state of shock and sadness at losing such a charismatic star and legend.

  • I have been informed that the Mucha Lucha toys are now available in Mexico. It appears that there is some extra cool stuff which is not available here in the U.S.! Thanks to Annette Huckell for sending this photo of a “Buena Bank” from TJ!

Update: Obviously, I have been way too slack with the surfing/blogging lately. Today I checked my bloglines and found  this!!! Thank you Mr. Bali Hai :) - Lili
