  • Santo in ActionEddie

Y’know, there are Blue Demon people, and Santo people.  It’s kinda like Batman and Superman – Blue is the slightly blurred hero while Santo is the squeaky clean superman.  But after seeing this panel, maybe I’ve misjudged El Enmascarado de Plata…

  • That Santo!!! (I think I still prefer Blue, though ;) )

  • Hmm.

I don’t know anything about this comic strip or story but kinda reminds me of Superman and Wonder Woman.

  • Off topic.

What do you guys think about the Adobe Macromedia merger?

I wonder how this will affect flash?

  • I don’t ever remember Superman and Wonder Woman getting in this sort of booty-riffic clinch.

I could be WAY off, but I wouldn’t think it matters what happens to Flash. From versions 4 upwards Macromedia has been just shuffling the cards – with each version there hasn’t been any radical jaw-dropping changes. Maybe Adobe will finally release a TV animation-friendly version.  And if it all turns to crap, we still have our MX licenses.

  • BLUE!BLUE!BLUE!

I am in complete agreeance in the Blue people and the Plata people. I am and always have been Bluue through and through!

  • We can only hope Blue gets the same kinda action in his upcoming comic.  ¡Arriba Demon!

  • Dios Mio, indeed!

  • Blue Demon is a bad ass, but El Santo is a sacred icon.

I think Santo is the gods’ gift to Mexico… and Mexico’s gift to the world!!!

    Viva Santo!

  • If it was Blue in the same pose, ol’ Proffe Manotas’ amazing gorilla hands would be grabbing her in a whole different place!

Eddie, you and I have talked plenty about our frustration that there was never a Santo y blue flick that explored the differences in their characters. Where was the buddy film where Santo was the uber-boyscout and Blue was the edgier anti-hero type out doing all the dirty work? “Santo contra las mujeres vampiras” should have been one of these, and when time came to impale the ladies, the holier-than-thou Saint should have stepped aside while Blue took on the unseemly grisly task.

From our prespective here and now, this type of Angel & Devil dynamic seems so obvious, but we forget that while Santo was a huge rudo for years, Blue never spent a day as a heel ever…

  • So true Keith!

As far as a pop culture icon, call me a proud Mexican nationalist but I just can’t get over Blue Demon’s name being in English. El Demonio Azul sounds so much better!

And yes, English names are a staple of lucha, but for our most beloved Mexican hero? Hell no!

  • Yeah Keith, someone so needs to do that movie.  Alas, I can’t ever see Los Hijos ever, ever, sharing the spotlight.

So Jorge, I’m assuming you have your foot firmly in the Santo camp? :)

  • My brain thinks blue, but my heart is silver. El Santo for life. Forever!

  • Spoken like a man who was married in a Santo hood :)
