  • Mucha Lucha Update

Medico Mayhem is the title of an upcoming ML episode this Season 3. We’re plugging this one because it’s one of our favorites! It’s a hilarious story loosely inspired by Ricky’s appendix operation. Storyboard and dialogue by Greg Colton (Now Director on Fox’s Family Guy). * Pictures chosen below are non-spoilers

The Flea cannot feel his spleeeen!!!

Also in the same half-hour is Big Worm; storyboard by Gabe Swarr (now Storyboard Supervisor on Disney’s Maggie)

    Fishing for Gordo Gus

    Two frequently asked questions:

    1. When is the ‘Return of El Malefico’ DVD coming out?
We have been informed that it will be released on October 5th, exclusively at Wal-Mart; then in Jan 2005 at other stores.
    2.  Is there going to be a Season 4 of ML?
We will have the answer to this question sometime soon! Possibly in mid October-November 2004.

    Another year in L.A.

As of next week, we will have been living in L.A. for exactly ONE year! (Wow. Who would’ve thought.) Taking stock of things, we notice that we have also been working non-stop in the animation industry for the past FIVE years (not counting the years before we met, when we were also working our butts off at separate animation studios). So I guess the time has come to take a breath, and reassess…

There are some big changes happening in our personal lives right now:

    • Eddie has started producing music again. (He used to be a musician for many years, before working in Animation)
    • I am applying for a California’s Drivers Licence & buying a car (I have been taking lessons and this will be my first car).  And getting my own apartment next week!
    • Eddie and I will continue to work together, with an emphasis on HAVING FUN doing it. We also plan to focus on more independent/personal animation projects this year; trying to achieve Balance. Sometimes you lose sight of why you do what you do and get caught up in large company politics.

So there you have it! This week is going to be slightly hectic with the packing and moving etc. More later…

  • Congratulations on your anniversary, and best of luck with all the upcoming changes. Hope ya’ll are still around in December, when I’ll be out in LA with my family.

  • Hey MrBaliHai – We’ll be around in December. We’d love to meet you/hang out! – Lili

  • Looking forward to it. The first round of Sufferin’ Bastards are on me, Eddie.

  • Hey guysYes five years – that’s a milestone.Funny how life goes along as if it’s never going to change, then all that changes.
Best ofs to you both in your new config.
I’m turning a few young sons (17-20 year olds) onto your weblog for the amazing stuff you keep coming up with.
One of them, a 17yo, is into the mexican car thing – where they do up the cars and then jumpdance with them at these big mobilefests – can’t remember what they’re called. There was one here in Oz recently but rare. He’s a bit isolated in this here in the mountains, but loves mexican culture.
Anyway I’m sick of not having anything to show for all my work and might have to get some shots to overcome that! : )

  • thanks, Sparx! Change is tricky, but also a good thing in terms of the bigger picture. E & I are both feeling optimistic!
    stay in touch! — Lili

  • Ok will do.It must be a buzz for you learning to drive and then getting your first mobile. And decking out your own place. Looks like an apartment dwellers paradise where  you are.
Look forward to seeing the new stuff you guys come up with. Howz CB going btw?
I stopped driving a few years ago but had 14 years behind the wheel and loved just hitting the road in an open-ended way when we could.
Heading to the Western Plains Zoo with my young son, then just keeping going into the outback of nsw to some amazing towns . . . . caught in a freak lightening storm in the night on a road in the middle of nowhere, with king hits on the road and land all around us, then down to the murray river and echuca and a whole other world, through bendigo, then on to melbourne where my boy got his ear studs at the iconic Myers store in front of a raft of mirrors for his 12th birthday.
You’ve got some great country to get around in over there I bet. Those awesome stories of the mound cities of the indigenous peoples eg around the Mississippi Basin and south of there I think.
    Devil!
