Spotted in a neighborhood store – The Dog Owner’s Manual. I love the doggie illustrations by Headcase Design. (Flash site) The above image was grabbed from their website but there were lots of better ones in the book.

Is this a firewall problem?
I’ve installed a firewall on this laptop (ZoneAlarms Pro) and have since had trouble uploading images… The xanga image upload window goes blank after I submit a pic, and hangs… The only way I can get images to display is to manually type in the html tags. Sometimes I can’t upload anything at all.
I have checked my firewall settings – everything looks OK – no scripts nor pop-ups disabled. Also- when I visit some other (usually blogspot) blogs, the commenting windows will no longer pop up. I am assuming these problems are related in some way to the firewall because I haven’t changed my browser settings.
If anyone has any advice, please help!

some firewalls block popups – even if you’re requesting them? you can usually add a site address to a popup blocker and it will let the popups through…
hi john – i checked my settings and made sure that popups are enabled for xanga… maybe there’s something else i need to do… I’m not sure what that is.
try enabling all popups and see if that works?
if you have the google toolbar installed, you should have good popup protection…
hmmm… not sure how to enable ALL popups… I just made sure that popups enabled for http://www.xanga.com and premium.xanga.com … I’m not even sure if it’s a popup problem. You see, the xanga image upload window DOES pop up. the problem is that nothing loads in it. It’s just blank.
i was just guessing it might be related, b/c the blogspot popups stopped working?
could you view-html inside the image upload popup with nothing in it? i wonder if the html is loading in there, or if it’s somehow being blocked from being shown…
you mean ‘View source’? i just tried this – Yes! there is html! So, what is blocking this? Or how is this being blocked?
in my firewall settings i notice this - “Incoming NetBIOS blocked” … what does this mean? is it related?
I should also add that – some blogspot pop ups work. some don’t… i think it depends on who’s hosting the comments & what the script is, that’s my guess. I don’t know what the difference is. And btw, thanks for helping me out here, John! I really appreciate it – Lili
i think maybe the popup is using some javascript to refresh itself… and zonealarm doesn’t like that. it’s weird, i have zonealarm pro at home and haven’t had any problems… but these firewall/anti-virus setups are very unpredictable!
are there any settings for javascript?
I just received some advice from a friend Peter, who tells me that he’s also had problems with zonealarm pro and that winxp already has its own firewall so I didnt need to install another one.
So I’ve uninstalled zonealarm pro and enabled my winxp firewall. everything’s back to normal and working fine now
That doggie illustration is cute!
By the way… I dropped by to say ‘Hi’ and wish you guys well with Fwak. I came across a review of Fwak in today’s Age – Good Weekend Magazine.
