  • We had dinner last night at Trader Vics where the cocktails were deliciously potent and did not disappoint. (Eddie had a Samoan Fogcutter; Tim and I had Suffering Bastards). Also great food. The only thing missing was that kitsch “tiki” vibe we like. For upscale Polynesian decor with plenty of cheeze value, San Francisco’s Tonga Room goes unbeaten…

    Check out Tyson, the skateboarding bulldog (videoclip). This doggie is good!

    Happy Good Friday for tomorrow! We’ll be workin’ in the studio…

  • Miles Thompson is a character designer on Mucha Lucha.
    I don’t think he likes me…he always goes out of his way to draw outstandingly ugly caricatures of me.

  • Yeah, it’s hard to beat a restaurant that has a crappy cover band playing on a little boat in a swimming pool in the middle of the restaurant. Gotta love those fake tropical thunderstorms as well.However, the drinks at the Tonga are pretty weak, and their food isn’t terribly memorable either, so Vic’s has them beat there.

  • Yes, well stated Mr.BaliHai.  Although The Tonga Room wins hands down for me in the ‘Tiki Power’ stakes…I couldn’t resist kneeling in front of the great Tiki in the corridor leading up to the restaurant, and asking the great spirit to grant us a third season of Mucha Lucha! :}
