  • Received major complex life-changing news (not yet officially released). Can’t tell you what it is or I’d have to kill you

Yesterday, Peter Hastings took us to visit his friend Allie Willis in her fabulous North Hollywood house – which words cannot describe to do it justice. Architecturally, the house is famous.

But the awe-inspiring part was the interior (ie, and what we know about Allie). One could spend YEARS in a single room looking at every piece of amazing kitsch treasure.

    • Allie is a composer (who wrote Earth Wind and Fire’s “September” and “Boogie Wonderland” and the “Friends” theme) There was a massive sunlit (like every room in the houe) studio with lotsa wide-screen computers and gold records on the walls. We learnt she is currently working on a stage musical of ‘The Color Purple’ with Alice Walker.
    • Allie loves television. There was a TV in every room. Even one next to the jacuzzi outside – surrounded by tikis in palm trees, googie furniture and marbles…
    • Allie collects African-American pop culture art, artifacts, music, anything. The entire house is a funky Black Americana museum. I have never seen so many items of african-american merchandise ever, esp. with pictures of afros on them. There were also supercool out-of-print boardgames from the 70′s, toys, books, figures, anything and everything…

Anyway, we both left totally inspired – thinking about buying a home and going nutty on decorations …
