  • We had lunch with a fellow Australian yesterday. Matthew Schofield is the brother of Michele from Cartoon Network Australia; a character layout artist on The Simpsons, and has lived here in L.A. for seven years.

We chatted about the Australian animation industry- how so much has changed over the last couple of years, with bigger studios in trouble (e.g. Energee closing down) and smaller studios developing new content and doing co-productions.(e.g. Kapow) Turns out he knows Mark Mulgrew whom Eddie knows from his days at Mr. Big Animation (1993).

Matthew had moved here to work, and had been getting gigs on features like Cats Don’t Dance and Iron Giant. In true Aussie fashion, I have to say – what a lucky bastard. Maybe he’ll give us a tour of Film Roman sometime soon…

Sadly, Rey Misterio Jr is going on tour in the UK and can’t be involved in ML as a guest voice… Ah well…

Had pizza lunch with the ML crew here today at WBA. Tim (production manager) is getting married and will be away for two weeks. It was also Pam’s (Flash artist) birthday; plus Rafael Navarro turned up which was a really nice surprise.

OK, time to plug the Viva Lucha show again which opens tomorrow night! Jorge & Sandra came in this afternoon to pick up everyone’s last-minute paintings to take to Portland tomorrow morning. There have been more stuff added to the website – go check it out!

Above: Sandra Equihua’s Lucha En Azul (Awesome!)

    Eddie’s La Familia Von Trapp
Exhibition piece is a watercolor-pencil and ink version

I didn’t end up doing anything. Shortage of time and lack of confidence… not having the familiar comforts of my own workspace… But the next show, I’ve promised Sandra I’ll get my shit together.

We’re going to try very very hard to get to bed before 2am. Went to the supermarket tonight and got our supplies and dramamine pills…

    American supermarkets!!!
I can’t believe how many different kinds of milk there are.

We’re getting up at 5.30am tomorrow morning (this is gonna be interesting) for our big roadtrip to San Franciso along the scenic Highway 1. Everyone keeps telling us “Oh no. That’s a Lo-o-o-oooong drive.” Yeah, I think we’re prepared. We’ll do quick stops in Santa Barbara, Big Sur, Cambria, Santa Cruz.. spend 2 nights in San Francisco, then whizz back on the I-5 and be home by Sunday night. I am looking forward to taking lotsa pictures.

I’m taking my laptop to SF. Maybe I’ll blog something over the weekend…

Latest news from WB Marketing: there will be a series of ML Harper-Collins  BOOKS  launched very soon sometime this year. (the stories are adaptations of TV episodes) No one here has seen anything yet though…

    This is not Hulk Hogan

    Spotted on SMACKDOWN tonight:
    Mr America!

Eddie: HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! Too stupid funny!
