  • This came in the post today, from WB: It’s Krypto the superdog! It’s hard to imagine this cute and fluffy little puppy version having superpowers… (and we didn’t know he had long whiskers!) but he will, in the project we’re going to work on…

Krypto’s super-powers – including X-ray vision, super-strength, invulnerability, and the power of flight - are similar, if not identical, to Superman’s own, although his strength is undoubtedly not as great as Superman’s, just as the strength of an ordinary dog is not as great as that of an ordinary man. On the other hand, however, Krypto’s super-hearing and “super-keen sense of smell” are probably more acute in a canine that in an ordinary human being.  Like any surviving native of Krypton, Krypto the Superdog is vulnerable to kryptonite.

  • …We watched The Frightened City (1961) last night – a great b/w crime noir starring a pre-Bond Sean Connery; with a very cool twangy-guitar and bongos soundtrack.

  • Mothman Prophecies

We finally got around to watching this on video – especially since Eddie had read the book by John Keel. Here’s an apt review that compares the film with the book – Hollywood Vs.The Moth

In this eerie supernatural thriller, the title character literally phones in his performance – as a disembodied electronic voice calling Richard Gere and the rest of the cast at inconvenient hours. In the few instances when we’re afforded an onscreen sighting of the creature, it’s a fleeting apparition, the film equivalent of a Rorschach blotch.

As Eddie says: “Less Prophecies! More MOTHMAN!”

  •  A pair of stuffed toy panda bears floated past the camera as the two men, dressed in coveralls with Chinese flags on the chest, donned space suits in the background. The broadcast added to signs of China’s growing confidence in its effort to become the third nation, after Russia and the United States, able to send its own astronauts into orbit.

From this news article: Rare glimpse at Chinese astronauts

Our space race cartoon could in fact, be very timely…
