    Happy Birthday to our friend Jorge whose birthday falls on Australia Day. Jorge and Sandra Gutierrez are a talented couple we met in LA, and hope to catch up with again soon.
     
    We noticed in the TV guide today that ‘The Wild Wild World of Jamie Leonarder’ will be airing on SBS Friday 8.30pm. We owe a lot to Jamie Leonarder. Years ago, it was Jamie L. who introduced Eddie to El Santo and the Mexican-wrestling movie genre, – from which came the inspiration for Mucha Lucha and Rudo By Night. JL was the one who started all this.
    ‘Defying categorisation, Jamie Leonarder is performer, diversional therapist, broadcaster, streetworker, nightclub impresario, archivist, champion of outside culture, with his own band made up of former psychiatric patients and eccentrics.’ (SMH TV guide)
    I first met Jamie L. when we were performing in a piece called ‘Space Oddity’. He was the MC and also member of Triclops International, sci-fi/machine-arts performance group. I remember a piece of advice Jamie L. offered me when I was a young scatterbrain, torn between multiple career paths: “Whenever you’re in doubt of what to do, just do everything. Do it all.” 
    HE obviously, has.
