ABOUT THIS WEBLOG…
Hi there! Updating our website is something I have been meaning to do for months. I have half-sketched out ideas to tighten the layout, make the navigation more accessible…include new pics and animated clips from our latest productions. Unfortunately, there is never enough time outside “work hours” to do this.
So the purpose of this page/blog is to let you know what we’re up to. This is basically a Fwak! News page – which will be updated much more regularly than the main website. And it’s so easy to post text and pics anytime from anywhere…
THE BIG NEWS this month is that:
Kids WB Network has picked up a second season of
Mucha Lucha! Which means Eddie and I will be moving to LA for a couple of months to work on the series at WB Animation…. Not really something we had planned for so life will become very interesting! (And LA has some very cool places –
Amoeba Music,
Meltdown Comics,
Wacko; we also know some supertalented people… and LA is close to the lucha in Tijuana!)
For Australians who have been asking, we have confirmation that Mucha Lucha will air on Cartoon Network Australia in Feb 2003.
In the meantime, I have been searching the web for press reviews etc. (being so far away from all the action here in Sydney) and these are some great write-ups: New York Press, Union Tribune
A big thank you also to Neil Hughes, the moderator of OzAnimation (a discussion group for the Australian animation industry). We have a Mucha Lucha feature in OzAnimation Magazine Issue#2 which you can download from the OzAnimation Group page.
We’re also thick in production on Cosmic Baby, our 3 x 7min (half-hour) pilot which Fwak! is co-producing with Cartoon Network Asia-Pacific. Cosmic Baby is a heroic Chinese toddler on a mission in the Space Race. We did some “space” research recently at Minsk World. Check out our pics in the reviews section of this site, or click here.
The Fuzz, our AFC-funded short film was completed in August, and has been shipped out to film festivals. Recently it premiered at the Melbourne ‘Short Trips’ Fringe Festival. If anyone of you happened to be there and saw it, we’d love to get your feedback.
Eddie is busy finishing off Lava Palaver (our Super Mahi Tiki pilot episode) and it’s lookin’ real good. Here is a recent image from the show. [view earlier work-in-progress pics]
Stay tuned. More news soon…and please feel free to contact us/add comments here.
